This space is the size of small classroom. The door located on the main floor of the staircase is only used as an exit. Windows looking out towards Highland line one side of the space. Large scones are located in the corners of the landings. These lights served to illuminate the staircase day and night. During the day the light through the windows dominates over the electric lighting.
