Staircase - This public space is used primarily for accessing the 5 different levels of the building from within. This space is the size of small classroom. The door located on the main floor of the staircase is only used as an exit. Windows looking out towards Highland line one side of the space. Large scones are located in the corners of the landings. These lights served to illuminate the staircase day and night. During the day the light through the windows dominates over the electric lighting. The staircase resembles a tunnel of sorts if you look at it from the fourth floor down to the ground floor.
